At this time, two gardens make up the Des Moines Food Pantry Gardens and they are located on the land of two churches:
In 2010 these two gardens produced over four tons of fresh vegetables that were donated to the Des Moines Area Religious Council, the Eddie Davis Community Center and the food distribution program at Trinity Methodist Church.
This year, these two gardens have increased in area and our goal for this year is to grow over eight tons of fresh vegetables. Can you help? Volunteers are retirees, church groups, civic groups, students, neighbors, and any other people who want to enjoy fresh air and sunshine while helping other people. Volunteers help with planting, weeding, watering, harvesting in the garden and delivering to the food pantries.
